The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards Are Happening Sunday!

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards are going down Sunday at 8 pm live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and from the looks of things, it’s shaping up to be an exciting night. 

Hosted by LL Cool J, Jack Harlow and Nicki Minaj, the night will, as usual, be jam-packed with performers, including Harlow, Lizzo, BLACKPINKMåneskinAnitta, J Balvin with Ryan Castro, Marshmello x Khalid, Panic! at the Disco, and Kane Brown, the first male country artist to perform at the VMAs. In addition, Eminem and Snoop Dogg have just been added for what's billed as their first-ever joint performance at the VMAs, and Bad Bunny is on board, although he'll be performing live from Yankee Stadium as part of his "World’s Hottest Tour."

In addition, host Nicki will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and she’ll also perform. The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be honored, with the Global Icon Award, and will perform as well, with Cheech and Chong set to present them with their trophyIt will be the first time in over a decade that the band has graced the VMA stage. 

  • There will also be a pre-show airing ahead of the festivities, featuring performances by Dove Cameron, Saucy Santana, and Yung Gravy, with Tate McCrae acting as celebrity correspondent and Murda Beatz acting as the Kraft Singles House DJ. It airs at 6:30 pm.
  • As for this year’s nominees, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar lead the pack with seven nods each, followed by this year’s most nominated female, Doja Cat, with six.  Harry Styles, also has six nods, with Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Drake, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd all nabbing five.
