Police in Bolton, Britain are advising people to stop believing everything they read online after a man they had pulled over for suspicion of drunk driving proceeded to “shove a load of coins” into his mouth when asked to take a breathalyzer test after running a red light in front of a patrol car. The internet theory is that sucking on a copper coin will trick a breathalyzer, but the man registered almost twice the legal limit in England, so that theory didn’t help the man.
