Gender reveal stunts are a source of frustration for many, but a couple in Brazil may have taken things a bit too far. The parents-to-be are accused of causing an environmental disaster in a river by dying the water in a 60-foot waterfall bright blue to celebrate the fact that they’re expecting a boy.
The waterfall is part of a river that serves the town of Tangara da Serra, and the situation is made worse by the fact that the town has had periods of drought recently. The unnamed couple posted videos of the event on social media but quickly took them down once people became outraged. The state’s Environment Secretary has said the river will be inspected to “investigate the environmental damage caused,” and the couple could be charged with a crime.
