Study: Faking A Smile Makes You Happier

There may be something to the phrase “fake it ‘til you make it.” A research team collected data from 3,878 participants from 19 countries and found that faking a smile actually makes you feel happier. The Stanford University study showed a “noticeable increase in happiness” when people mimicked smiling photographs.

The study was recently published in the journal “Nature Human Behaviour” and says that “a facial mimicry and voluntary facial action could both amplify and initiate feelings of happiness.”
