We all have our favorite go-to place to shop for groceries. Whether you’re looking for discounted prices or a wide selection of products, there seem to be endless options for food shopping and some have earned more loyalty than others. A recent survey reveals the stores that customers trust most for buying their groceries.
The results of BrandSpark’s fifth-annual list of the Most Trusted Grocery Retailers in America are out. The marketing research firm surveyed more than 10-thousand shoppers about the stores they trust the most and categorized the results by store format, geographic region and 36 key attributes, including affordability, loyalty program rewards and easy checkout experience.
Based on all of that, Walmart comes in first overall for the most trusted conventional grocer. It also tops the list in several other categories, including Affordability, In-Store Health & Safety Measures, In-Store Pharmacy Services and Curbside Pickup. Walmart also ranks highest for its selection of beauty products, home goods, household care products, over-the-counter health products, pet food and new products.
The survey results show:
- The most trusted conventional grocers after Walmart are Kroger, Publix, Safeway, and H-E-B and ShopRite tie for fifth place.
- Aldi tops the list for most trusted discount and small-format grocery stores, followed by Trader Joe’s.
- Texas-based H-E-B also sweeps several categories, coming in first for Most Valuable Coupons, Easy Checkout Experience, Meat, Seafood, and Prepared Meals.
- The most trusted store for natural and organic groceries is Whole Foods, followed by Trader Joe’s.
- H-E-B, Walmart and Kroger also get the highest ratings in the Store Brand/Private Label Products category.
- Florida-based Publix is first for In-Store Cleanliness, In-Store Deli, Fresh Meat and Home Delivery.
- For fresh produce, H-E-B, ShopRite and Kroger claim top spots.
- And on the bottom of the list? Meijer, which is in nearly last place, along with regional stores like Food Lion, Giant Eagle and Hy-Vee.
