Everyone knows that Walmart is a place where you never know what you’ll see, but a zoologist saw something stranger than anyone ever has on a trip to the store…a Jurassic-era insect thought to be gone from eastern North America for 50 years.
Students in his class identified the insect, which Professor Michael Skvalra took with him from the Walmart in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as a giant lacewing, which was confirmed with molecular DNA analysis. Scientists think there may be a colony of the insect living in the Ozark Mountains.
