The two artists had parallel careers in rock and country music - and now Elton John and Dolly Parton are teaming up. We told you back in January that Dolly was planning a true rock album in response to being voted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame - with names like Paul McCartney, Steve Perry, Steven Tyler and Stevie Nicks joining her on the project.
Now you can add one more - as Sir Elton John has confirmed that he too will be on the upcoming Dolly Parton album "Rock Star." While the exact track the two are collabing on is unknown, Dolly had already said that she was covering "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" for her upcoming 28-track double album - so the smart money is that Sir Elton will be joining her on that cut.
While making an appearance on BBC's The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Dolly confirmed she would be doing a cover of Elton's track and had reached out to him for a duet. "I just recorded for my rock album and I did [Elton's] song, 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me,' and I've sent out a message asking if he would sing with me on it and possibly play the piano,' she added. Best guess is - message received, and that's the track the two ended up working on.
No word on when this particular song - or the album - will be out, but reports are it will be in the second half of 2023.
