The duet you didn’t know you needed has arrived. Jennifer Hudson invited country star Reba McEntire onto her daytime talk show this week to discuss music. At one point, Hudson asked McEntire to talk about covering Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” in 1980 and again at CMA Awards in 1988.
McEntire confirmed this piece of trivia, saying how much she likes the song and loves Aretha. The country superstar then admitted that she was “scared to death” of the soul singer when she met her in person. Hudson felt her pain adding, “Yeah that scared me too… I got to meet her in Washington, D.C. at Christmas in Washington, and she’s just amazing. “
The two powerhouses then launched into a cover of “Respect” which got the audience on their feet and then cheering up a storm at the end of the performance.
