Many of us got used to working from home during the pandemic and plenty of workplaces have allowed their staff to continue doing it. Research shows that 12.7% of full-time employees now work entirely from home and another 28.2% have a hybrid structure, working at home some and putting in some hours in the office.
It turns out, where you live can have a big impact on how positive or negative your working from home experience can be, and a new report from WalletHub reveals the states where people have it the easiest.
- They compared the 50 states and Washington, D.C. in 12 key areas, broken down into two sections. Work Environment includes factors like the share of workers working from home and cyber security, while Living Environment includes the average price of electricity, cost of Internet and average home square footage.
- Topping the list as the best state to work from home in 2023 is Delaware, which is number two for Work Environment and 11 for Living Environment.
- Washington, D.C. comes in first for Work Environment, but 50th for Living Environment.
- Georgia, which is seventh overall, lands in first place for Living Environment.
- And on the bottom of the list, Alaska is the worst state for working from home. It’s number 50 for Work Environment and 48 for Living Environment.
