We have new details about the upcoming Cody Johnson album - straight from Cody himself! In an interview just prior to taking the stage at the Country Thunder Music Festival in Arizona over the weekend, Cody revealed a few things about what he's been working on: first, a new album - which he said would be titled "Leather" (that's breaking news item #1); second, (much like his last album "Human - The Double Album") the album would in fact would be a double album!
When pressed on a release date, Cody couldn't commit, saying "Maybe by the end of the year, maybe next year", but did say that he thought it would be released in a different way this time around, and would consist of 24 new tracks. Something to get excited about!
"I wanna go ahead and sneak peek, I’m working on a new double album. It’ll be 24 tracks total. This round of 24 songs I have to say is the best round of songs I have ever recorded and I feel like that’s the way it should be. Each album should outdo the last one. There’s some fun stuff, I think the theme of this new album is fun. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a ballad or whether it’s tongue-in-cheek kinda fun." All this on top of what we already knew: the new project would include a duet with Carrie Underwood.
