Morning Consult is a global research firm that has been polling customers all over the world for the past four years to make a list of the world’s “Most Trusted Brands” and the 2023 report has found Cheerios to be the most trusted food and beverage brand in the U.S. It’s the second year in a row that the title has gone to Cheerios and the poll was based on responses between 799 and 8,434 adults throughout the U.S. Other brands that followed in the poll’s top ten included Kellogg’s at number two, Campbell’s, Oreo, M&M’s, Heinz, Lipton, Ritz, Lays and Pillsbury.
Consumer trust is one of the most important measures of the success of a company and it’s defined as a “deep and intangible belief in the perceived virtue of a person, business, or organization” according to Morning Consult. Cheerios have been around since 1941 and with the cereal being kosher, gluten-free, and free of legally-declarable allergens made with 100% whole grains, it checks a lot of boxes for consumers. Cheerios also have a high perceived value which counts in the poll as well.
Cheerios was in third place in the initial poll taken in 2020 but has moved up steadily every year and the 2023 report ranks Cheerios as the sixth most trusted brand in all categories, up from seventh place in 2022. It’s also the only food or beverage brand to show up in the top 10 most trusted brands in all categories in the U.S.
