A new Guinness World Record is on the books, thanks to a kidney stone. A surgical team at Columbo Army Hospital in Sri Lanka has removed from a former military sergeant what’s being called the world’s largest and heaviest kidney stone in history. The mass weighed in at 1.76 pounds and measured 5.3 inches…roughly the size of a grapefruit.
So, who did the 62-year-old sergeant beat out? The previous record-holder held the title with a 5.11-inch kidney stone which was removed in India in 2004, according to the record book’s website.
