David Letterman Gets Standing Ovation In Return To “The Late Show”

After eight years, David Letterman was back in the Ed Sullivan Theater Monday night to a standing ovation. The legendary late night icon was a guest on CBS' "The Late Show," the show he hosted for nearly 22 years starting in 1993. Host Stephen Colbert welcomed the man he replaced for his first appearance back on the show saying “Ladies and gentlemen, my guest tonight certainly needs no introduction. Please welcome back to the Ed Sullivan Theater — Mr. David Letterman.” At the end, he let Letterman take his old seat behind the desk. Letterman returned to interviewing in 2018 with his Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”
