For the first time in its history, “Time” has named a solo entertainer as their Person of the Year and it’s Taylor Swift. Editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs explains why they chose Swift: “Taylor Swift found a way to transcend borders and be a source of light. No one else on the planet today can move so many people so well. Achieving this feat is something we often chalk up to the alignments of planets and fates, but giving too much credit to the stars ignores her skill and her power. Swift is the rare person who is both the writer and hero of her own story.”
The cover story has Tay talking about her epic 2023, including the “Eras Tour,” and fans also get some details about her relationship with Travis Kelce. She shares “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple."
Taylor also says in the interview “This is the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt and the most creatively fulfilled and free I’ve ever been.” She adds “Ultimately, we can convolute it all we want or try to overcomplicate it, but there’s only one question,” using a Russell Crowe line from “Gladiator,” “Are you not entertained?” The magazine says 2023 is only the beginning of the era of Taylor’s journey.
