A 285 Year Old Lemon Was Sold For $17-Hundred At Auction

Here’s a good reason to clean out your kitchen drawers! A 285-year-old lemon was found in the back of a 19th century cabinet drawer in England and it fetched big money at auction. While it wasn’t yellow anymore, but a gross greenish color, the fruit was intact. The cabinet was brought to Brettells Auctioneers by a family and that’s when the lemon was found. It had an inscription on it reading "Given By Mr P Lu Franchini Nov 4 1739 to Miss E Baxter." While the cabinet sold for $40, the lemon brought in over $17-hundred! The auction house had no idea the fruit would be that popular.
