Amazon’s New Smart Shopping Carts Let You Skip Checkout Line

Amazon has introduced a new version of smart shopping carts at a Whole Foods store in San Mateo, California, which marks the first deployment of this technology in the state and the sixth nationwide. These advanced carts are designed to improve customer experience by allowing them to bypass the traditional checkout process, as they automatically track purchases and display a real-time receipt on a built-in screen. Shoppers can log into their Amazon or Whole Foods Market app via a QR code to use the cart, which also features a built-in scale and sensor fusion technology for weighing items. While these smart carts offer a more efficient shopping option, traditional carts and checkout lanes remain available for customers who prefer them.
