Science has determined the value of drinking quality wine. A study from the National Research Council of Italy reported that “expectations about product quality” can impact the “pleasantness of an experience.” The results came from a trial in which five wines used, two of which were described as “faulty.” From there, 50 “consumers” were placed in an “arousing” environment complete with live jazz music in the background. Reactions to the wines were recorded through electrocardiograms and through questionnaires, and the results were tabulated. What they found, in a nutshell, is that those who drank the “good wine” were noticeably happier than those drinking the swill. These results even held true for drinkers with untrained wine palettes.
