The White House wants a unified standard time for the moon. NASA has been instructed to work with other government agencies to come up with a plan that it's calling Coordinated Lunar Time (CLT) by the end of 2026. Because of the way time and gravity works, time is different out there from how it is perceived on Earth. A standard time would help create a benchmark for synchronizing lunar spacecraft and satellites. In case you didn’t know, time is currently measured on Earth by hundreds of atomic clocks stationed around our planet which measure the changing energy state of atoms to record time to the nanosecond.
