Del Monte has introduced the Precious Honeyglow pineapple, a smaller pineapple that weighs about 1.5 to 2 pounds, and is designed to serve one person and to reduce food waste. Inspired by the small phulae pineapples of Thailand, this new offering aims to suit consumer preferences for size, sweetness, and sustainability. Grown on specialty farms in Costa Rica, the Precious Honeyglow pineapple has a distinctly sweeter taste and golden hue, which is achieved by allowing the fruit to mature and ripen naturally on the plant for additional days. Del Monte's new mini-pineapples is meant to address the rising trend of single-person households in the U.S. and offers a sustainable solution for food spoilage.
