Woman Wheels Corpse Into Bank To Co-Sign Loan

In a bizarre incident reminiscent of the 80s screwball comedy “Weekend At Bernie’s,” a Brazilian woman has made headlines by attempting to get her deceased “uncle” to sign a bank loan contract by wheeling his corpse into a Rio de Janeiro bank. Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes was captured on video engaging with the dead man, urging him to sign documents for a $3,400 loan while propping up his head. She even thrust a pen into his limp hand, attempting to get him to hold it and sign. Bank workers raised concerns about the man’s condition, but Nunes brushed them off. Police were then called, and Nunes was arrested after it was discovered that the man, Paulo Roberto Braga, had been dead for hours before the incident. Authorities are investigating possible charges of theft, embezzlement, and abuse of corpse, and will probe further into Nunes’ relationship with Braga and any potential family involvement in the attempted fraud.
