Two weeks after Morgan Wallen was arrested after allegedly hurling a chair off the top of "Chief's" in Nashville, the singer has finally commented about the April 7 incident. In a statement shared Friday, Wallen addressed his arrest in a statement posted to his X account.
"I didn't feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I'm not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility," he wrote. "I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change."
He did seem to say at least a little more about the incident Saturday night at his concert in Oxford, Mississippi. Stopping down between songs, Morgan told a story from his past that seemed to have some relevance to present day. "When I was a junior in high school, I almost got kicked off the team… I was a little rowdy back then. I guess I’m still a little rowdy now. But Coach Davis, man, he never gave up on me. And there’s been a lot of people in my life who never gave up on me. Some of ’em are in this building tonight, you guys included. I just wanted to shout out that part of my life with this right here. And since baseball had been such a huge part of my life, it was only right that we made a baseball song. so here it is, ”98 Braves.'”
