We may complain about how expensive it is, but we’re not giving up on our beloved fast food. Some research suggests we might be going out to eat less than we used to because dining options don’t feel like a bargain anymore, but according to a new report, sales are up at restaurants across the country.
Technomic has just released their annual Top 500 Report, which lists the top restaurant chains in the U.S. based on last year’s sales. And it turns out, the rankings are virtually the same as the prior year.
- The research firm’s numbers show that McDonald’s is the overwhelming winner, with $53.1-billion in sales in 2023.
- That’s more than $20-billion more than the number two restaurant, Starbucks, which had $31.6-billion in sales last year.
- Chick-fil-A is a distant third with $21.6-billion.
- Beyond the top 10, Panera Bread is 11th, followed by Panda Express, Pizza Hut, Sonic Drive-In and Popeyes.
