There’s a brand new “Hunger Games” movie coming! The series writer, Susan Collins, is putting out a new prequel book in 2025…”The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” and a movie adaptation of the same name is set to come out on November 20, 2026.
The story will "revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of ’The Hunger Games,’ starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell," according to a synopsis. That would mean it probably follows the story of Haymitch Abernathy…played by Woody Harrelson in the original “Hunger Games” movies.
“The Hunger Games” started as book series in 2008, and was turned into a movie series in 2012. The most recent film, “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” was released in 2023 and made $337-million worldwide.
