Huge Sinkhole Swallows Up Illinois Park’s Soccer Fields

An Illinois park now has a massive sinkhole where their turf field was.The sinkhole opened up in the middle of the soccer complex at Gordon F. Moore Community Park in the town of Alton on Saturday morning. Luckily no one was nearby. The 100 foot wide and 30 foot deep hole is in the middle of the soccer field. The reason for the hole seems to be a collapse in the limestone mines located about 150 feet below soccer fields three and four. None of the miners were injured. The field section of the park will be closed until repairs are made.
