Mazda And Ford Are Warning Owners Of Older Vehicles To Stop Driving Them

If you drive an older Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury vehicle from the 2004 to 2014 model years, or a Mazda from the 2003 through the 2015 model years, the companies are asking you to stop driving it. The issue is that those vehicles have Takata airbag inflators, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says they can explode with too much force in a crash, blowing apart a metal canister and shooting fragments into the vehicle. The NHTSA says that 27 people have been killed by the faulty Takata inflators in the US, with at least 35 killed worldwide. Owners can check to see if their vehicle is affected on the NHTSA website, and then schedule an appointment with a dealer to have the inflator problem fixed, and both Ford and Mazda are offering free towing or mobile repairs and loaner vehicles if needed.
