Family Sues Hospital For Forgetting Tell Them Their Daughter Died

A family is suing a Sacramento, California hospital, accusing the hospital of misplacing their daughter's body after she died, and never even informing them of her deathJessie Peterson checked into a hospital for Type I diabetes issues in 2023 and her mom called there after not hearing from Peterson. They said no one by that name was there. A year later, it was discovered by police that Jessie died at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael, and her body was shipped to a cold storage facility. The suit claims all this happened without notifying the family, even though Peterson had next of kin information on her medical records. The family is seeking $15-million in punitive damages. The attorneys for the hospital and the family plan to meet in court next month.
