Hurricane Milton is gaining strength as it takes aim at Florida. The storm is rapidly strengthening and is now a category 2 with top winds now estimated at 100 miles per hour. Forecasters expect the hurricane, which comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene made landfall in the state, to arrive by Wednesday afternoon somewhere between Tampa and Ft. Myers. Rain began to fall yesterday, well ahead of the storm. Rainfall totals could reach eight inches in some areas. Authorities are stressing that when residents are told to evacuate, they do so. It’s expected to be the largest evacuation since 2017’s Hurricane Irma.
