Kids Reveal The Best Candy To Give Trick-Or-Treaters

Halloween is just weeks away, so it’s time to get your candy plan in place. When trick-or-treaters knock on your door, what do you want to have at home to put in their pumpkin? There are entire store aisles full of options, but you’d better choose well, unless you want to be known as the worst house on the block because you’re handing out awful stuff.

So, what is the best candy to give trick-or-treaters? Eater went straight to the experts - kids, of course - to find out their favorites and the “treats” they don’t even bother opening in their candy haul.

The best Halloween candy list is full of chocolate and gummies, and size matters, too … the bigger the better:

  • “Full-sized Twix or Hershey’s bar.”
  • “Sour Patch Kids, because they’re really yummy”
  • “Candy corn, ’cause they taste really good.”
  • “A king-size Crunch bar is the sign of a great house. The rarest candy is Sugar Babies — I’ve never had one in my whole entire life. Gummy Krabby Patties would also be good.”
  • “Lollipops or Reese’s peanut butter cups.”
  • “There is a house in our neighborhood that sets up a table with whole bags of a single brand of candy and kids get to pick the one they want, though I watched a kid choose a whole bag of Dots over Smarties last year.”

The Worst things to get while trick-or-treating, according to kids:
