Carrie Underwood is “still in disbelief” after joining Papa Roach on stage in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Grammy-winning country star made a surprise appearance at the rock group’s headlining show after her latest run of shows in her REFLECTION residency. Underwood said she went straight from her performance at Resorts World Theatre to Papa Roach’s show on Saturday night (April 5). She teamed up with the band on a live rendition of “Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark),” which the artists teamed up on last year to help raise awareness for suicide prevention, mental health, and the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. After that performance, Papa Roach invited Underwood back on stage to join them as they performed one of their most iconic hits. Underwood wrote in her caption as she shared a few photos on Instagram on Monday morning (April 7):
“Still in disbelief over this one. On Saturday, after my Reflection show, we changed my clothes, dried my hair and headed over to catch the [Papa Roach] show down the street. Not only did I get to perform ‘Leave A Light On’ with them, but I got called BACK out to do ‘Last Resort,’ because, why not?! Oh, and they told me that our song went GOLD, which is amazing because it’s raising money for a great cause! These guys are the real deal. 25 years of melting faces and I know they’ve got more work to do! What a great show!”
Papa Roach — made up of Jacoby Shaddix, Jerry Horton, Tobin Esperance and Tony Palermo — shared a clip of their “Last Resort” performance with Underwood on Instagram on Sunday (April 6). Watch it here (warning: language).
Underwood is gearing up for one final weekend of her Las Vegas residency, which she kicked off in 2021. She became the first and longest-running resident headliner at Resorts World Theatre when REFLECTION made its debut. She previously said she’s “absolutely loved performing in Las Vegas” over the years, and REFLECTION “is truly one of my favorite shows to perform.” The final dates are set for April 9, 11 and 12.
