Mattel is launching a Barbie with Type-one diabetes and a glucose monitor. The toymaker is expanding representation with the new doll and said that it allows children to see themselves in the doll while also encouraging play "that extends beyond a child's own lived experience." Mattel says Barbie partnered with the nonprofit organization Breakthrough T1D to develop new doll to ensure an accurate reflection of the devices. The 'Barbie Fashionistas Doll With Type 1 Diabetes' is available for purchase through Walmart and Amazon for $10.99.
