Female Umpire Set To Make MLB History

A New Jersey native will make history this weekend as the MLB's first female umpire in a regular-season game. Jen Pawol will umpire three of the four games between the Miami Marlins and Braves in Atlanta. She will work a double header Saturday and be behind home plate for the last game on Sunday. Pawol began her career as an umpire back in 2016 in the minor leagues. She also got experience umping softball games while attending Hofstra University. In 2024, she became the first woman in 17 years to umpire a Spring Training game.
