According to this year’s edition of “Farmers’ Almanac,” winter 2025-2026 is shaping up to be a long, old-fashioned season of “chill, snow, repeat.” The 200-year-old periodical, predicts that the cold won’t hit the Deep South quite as hard as last year, but the Northern Plains, Great Lakes, and New England can expect plenty of frigid air and snowstorms that may linger well into April. The Pacific Northwest is in for a solid snowpack, while the Southeast will see a mild but soggy winter, and Texas could get a few icy surprises. Out West, California and its neighbors are likely to enjoy a fairly calm, damp season, hopefully avoiding a repeat of last year’s wildfire woes.
