Budgets may be tighter for a lot of Americans right now, but Halloween spending is expected to reach a record high this year. According to the National Retail Federation's annual survey, U.S. consumers will spend $13.1-billion on the spooky holiday, up from $11.6-billion last year and the previous record of $12.2-billion set in 2023. Spending on candy alone is expected to hit $3.9-billion, making it the most popular Halloween purchase. Nearly three-quarters (73%) of people plan to celebrate the holiday, with top activities like handing out candy to trick-or-treaters (66%), dressing up in costume (51%), decorating their home or yard (51%), carving a pumpkin (46%), or visiting a haunted house (24%).
