Phone addiction is a real thing that causes problems for many people, but there are ways to cut back on screentime. A man named Logan Ivey created a solution to his phone addiction by making his phone too heavy to use comfortably. He designed and 3D-printed a six-pound stainless steel phone case that cut his daily screen time by more than half. Before making the case, he taped a dumbbell to his phone to test the idea.
The case took two months to develop and requires an Allen wrench to remove four screws, making it hard to take off quickly. The idea is that the phone becomes too heavy to scroll on for long periods, and you can't easily carry it to the bathroom or on walks. After two months of using it, Ivey says he's saving two or three hours a day from scrolling.
