A Florida family had a scary start to 2026 when bullets from New Year's Eve gunfire struck their home in Volusia County while they slept, with one bullet ending up under a sleeping woman's pillow. Deputies found five bullet holes in the outside of the house and pieces of drywall scattered in the bedroom. It wasn’t an attack, but just another example of something that’s seemingly becoming more common; three people were arrested for firing guns as part of a celebration. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office reminded residents that celebratory gunfire is illegal and dangerous.
