Meghan Patrick opted to cancel the remainder of her performance dates for the year to focus on her health and her family.

The singer-songwriter, who announced earlier this spring that she’s pregnant with her first child with husband Mitchell Tenpenny, made the announcement on Monday (May 11). She admitted, “this is hard to say, but I need to be honest with myself and with y’all… I was wrong.

“So with a very heavy heart, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of my shows for the year, starting in June,” Patrick said as she posted a video update on Instagram. “I’ll finish the last couple of shows I have this month, then I’ll be stepping away from touring for the rest of the year to focus on my family, my health, and this baby girl we prayed so hard for. I’ll still be making music, and honestly, I feel like I’m writing some of the best songs of my life right now. So I will not be disappearing or ‘quitting,’ just doing things a little differently in the best way for not only the quality of my music, but also for my family.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me, bought tickets, shown me grace, and loved me through every season. I promise I’ll be back when the time is right, and it will be worth the wait.”

Patrick and Tenpenny got married in October 2022. They shared their sweet pregnancy announcement on March 31. Tenpenny said at the time, “we’ve been blessed with the greatest gift of all this year! God is so good and always right on time… we can’t wait to be Mom and Dad 💗” Patrick later opened up about years of infertility, her reaction when she learned she was pregnant and more on an episode of The Upload with Brooke Taylor. Patrick and Tenpenny are some of the latest artists to announce a baby on the way this year, along with Emmy Russell (former American Idol contestant and granddaughter of late legend Loretta Lynn), Parker McCollum and more.
