Superheroes and Superstars: The Works of Alex Ross brings the artwork of one of the world’s most preeminent and well-respected comic book artists to the Shenandoah Valley!  Alex Ross is recognized for revitalizing the comic book industry with his brilliant use of watercolor and realism.  Organized by the Norman Rockwell Museum and at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley through May 14th, 2017, this traveling exhibition presents illustrations, sketches, and several never-before-seen personal artworks, including crossover battles between popular characters from comic books and film.

And Alex Ross will be at the MSV for a signing event from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st

There is no fee to attend the signing.  MSV admission fee applies to visit the exhibitions and gardens.  Food will be available for purchase from Jack Knuckle Gourmet from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This is a rare public appearance — the only scheduled signing for Alex Ross in 2017.

A lithograph of Ross’s The World’s Greatest Superheroes will be released at the April 1 signing. Painted in 2005 and on view in Superheroes and Superstars, the work features DC Comics’ most recognizable superheroes.  In addition to the new print, a variety of Alex Ross merchandise will be available for purchase in the Museum Store, including books, mini-canvasses, and a limited supply of prints.  A signed, framed set of Ross’s Yellow Submarine portraits of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison is also available for purchase at the MSV.
