Parents Will Get Refunds For Amazon Purchases Their Kids Made

Parents: If you've ever discovered that your kids charged stuff on your Amazon account when you weren't watching, rejoice!  Amazon will be refunding  $70 million to customers. It's for parents whose kids were playing games and made unauthorized in-app game purchases between November 2011 and May 2016. The FTC says "Amazon offers many children’s apps in its app store for download to mobile devices such as the Kindle Fire. Amazon’s setup allowed children playing these kids’ games to spend unlimited amounts of money to pay for virtual items within the apps such as 'coins,' 'stars,' and 'acorns' without parental involvement."One parent's 6-year-old clicked buttons at random on her Kindle and racked up plenty of charges. Another little girl managed to spend $358.42 before Dad caught what she was doing. Good news: Now any in-app purchase on Amazon over $20 requires a parental control password or PIN.
