President Bush was on Jimmy Kimmel

During an appearance on last night’s edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,”  George W. Bush said part of politics is having a sense of humor – about yourself.

"I love humor,” he told Jimmy.  “And the best humor is when you make fun of yourself."  Jimmy shot back, “Tell that to the president.”  Mr. Bush agreed – and everyone roared.  Similarly, the former President revealed that he was responsible for the now-famous Will Ferrell-era Bush impression and use of the word “strategery.”

President Bush says it was he that fed the word to “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels over dinner.  He also said that Lorne debated it, so Mr. Bush asked him, “Well let me ask you this? Did you come up with misunderestimate?'"

  • All jokes aside, Mr. Bush was on the show to talk about something serious: his new book, "Portraits of Courage," which features 66 portraits of American military veterans wounded during wars launched under his presidency. They’re all from oil paintings by Mr. Bush.
