(Grand Rapids, MI) -- The mastodon found in Kent County, Michigan is rare, as it was between nine and eleven-years-old. The first bone was found by a road construction crew, and last week the Grand Rapids Public Museum and Busscher Development recovered 32 more bones. GRPM president and CEO Dale Robertson says it will be studied by the University of Michigan and their own researchers. He says it will take about a year for the bones to dry out before being put on display.
