A youth basketball coach and former general manager of the semi-pro Winchester and Virginia Storm basketball teams was convicted Thursday of having sex in 2017 with an underage girl he coached and filming it.
After a four-day trial and about seven hours of deliberation, a Winchester Circuit Court jury convicted Norman Lee Blowe Jr. of taking indecent liberties with a minor, production of child pornography, the second or subsequent offense of production of child pornography, possession of child pornography and 20 counts of the second or subsequent offense of possession of child pornography.
Blowe was acquitted on three counts of indecent liberties and two counts of possession of child pornography.
He was sentenced to 13 years in prison and must pay a $4,600 fine. Blowe faced up to 335 years if given the maximum sentence on each charge.
The 48-year-old Blowe was found guilty of having sex with the then-17-year-old girl between May 4, 2017, and Oct. 30, 2017. Blowe had coached the girl on the Winchester Storm junior team from the time she was 13 and referred to her as his daughter.
