Shelter Doges Are Finding Work And Homes As Hotel Lobby Dogs

Shelter dogs are finding “furever” homes in a unique way.

Hotels and Inns are using them as lobby dogs . . . greeters if you will. Not only does this put a smile on the visitor’s face, sometimes they leave with a new pet! Inn by the Sea in Maine has fostered dogs from the local shelter for several years. To date, they’ve re-homed 148 dogs. The trick to the success? The customers wanted a dog but weren’t actively looking.

Programs like this are taking off across the country and not only are hotel guests getting the benefit of furry companionship during their stay, but the dogs are getting well socialized.

The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa has found homes for 137 pups through their program, which allows guests to take the dogs for walks and cuddle time.

Next time you’re staying at a resort, you may find your newest pet!
