An Illinois family says they got the surprise of a lifetime when a wheel crashed through their ceiling.
Luckily, Linda Taylor-Whitt's family wasn't at their home in the Chicago suburb of Lynwood Saturday night, but when they got there, her daughter went into the bathroom and saw the wheel stuck in the ceiling. The family eventually learned that it was dropped from a helicopter based at the nearby municipal airport.
Linda called emergency services and firefighters were stumped. Monday, she got a call explaining the wheel came from a device that moves helicopters from hangar to hangar, but must have been stuck on a chopper until it was right over Linda's home. The flight school that owns the wheel is paying to fix the damage.
