Luca Trapanese is the proud single father of a little girl who has Down syndrome and the story of how he became her dad is heartwarming. The 41-year-old from Naples, Italy was granted custody of Alba when she was only 13 days old in 2017 and he began the process of adopting her.
By then, Alba had been placed for adoption by her mother because of her medical challenges and more than 20 families had rejected her. Luca says she was the first newborn he had ever held and it was a life-changing moment.
“When I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad,” he explains. “She has brought me happiness and a sense of fulfillment.”
