Harry Hamlin has, arguably, one of the biggest facepalm moments in Hollywood.
The 68-year-old actor told the” New York Post” in an interview that in 1978 he was called in to audition for the 1981 film "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Harry says he met actress Stephanie Zimbalist at Steven Spielberg's offices for the audition.
He says that Spielberg told the two that George Lucas' plane was going to be late and that George loved chocolate cake. Spielberg then went to ask them to bake a cake for George. As they were in the kitchen, Harry revealed that a close friend, actress Amy Irving, was getting annoyed because "this guy Steven Spielberg, was showing up at the stage door every night with flowers.
Harry added that it had never occurred to him that he and Stephanie were actually in the audition while making the cake. The room had been filled with hidden cameras and microphones and Spielberg and Lucas were upstairs watching. Amy Irving later married Spielberg in 1985. The two divorced in 1989.
