We’ve heard time and time again how terrible some mothers-in-law can be, and this one certainly takes the cake.
A women shares on Reddit that she and her husband have been together for seven years and married for five. While they’ve been trying to start a family, they’ve been struggling with fertility issues, suffering several miscarriages and stillbirths.
While she has come to terms with the fact that a biological child isn’t in the cards, her mother-in-law apparently hasn’t. While the mother-in-law doesn’t know about the fertility issues, she kept pushing the couple for information on when they’ll have a baby, until the wife had it. She notes, “I finally snapped and told her that she would not be getting one any time soon.”
Well, that’s when the mother-in-law dropped a bombshell that the husband’s ex-girlfriend had his baby, adding, “Maybe she would surrogate for you?'" It seems the husband has an eight-year-old child that the woman never knew about. The hubby isn’t in the kid’s life at all, and has had no contact with him, but the fact that he never told his wife is causing major drama. She notes, “I've asked for as much space as possible, but I don't know what to do.”
But the Internet knows what she should do – dump him.
- "Advice? Leave him, now," one person wrote. "How can you stay with someone who lied to you for years, and apparently abandoned his child?"
- "Yikes. Seven years into a relationship, and you find out he has an 8-year-old?" another added. "That’s a pretty gnarly secret for him to hold onto."
- Finally, another shared, “Man, your MIL did you a favor...That’s a massive red flag.”
