A Chinese boy has fully recovered after a "food rock" was pulled from his stomach.
Officials say the five-year-old from East China ate four persimmons in a row and began to suffer repeated stomach aches. At a local hospital, doctors found a 250-gram "stone" inside of his stomach.
They determined that the acids from the fruit, along with his body's proteins and fibers, turned the food into a ball almost as hard as wood. During a nine-hour operation, surgeons broke apart the "rock" and took it out in small pieces. Experts say some acidic fruit shouldn't be eaten in excess.
