NBA Player Delayed Girlfriend’s Labor So He Could Play In Game

When a baby’s on the way, it doesn’t care what your plans are, it’s go time, right? But if you’re an NBA star about to play a game . . . it’s a different story, apparently. In April, Andrew Wiggins, who plays for the Golden State Warriors, was getting ready for a regular season game when his girlfriend, Mychal M. Johnson, went into labor. But instead of rushing to the hospital, he reportedly delayed her being induced so he could play ball.

The story was revealed by Connor Letorneau, Warriors reporter for the “San Francisco Chronicle,” during his “Warriors Off Court” podcast. He was defending Andrew from critics who said he “doesn’t care” and “that he’s apathetic.” Connor explained that a couple weeks ago, Andrew’s girlfriend was going into labor and “he had her delay things so that he can play a regular-season NBA game,” adding, “Immediately after the game was over, he was like, ‘Yep, time to induce labor. I’ll be there.’”

While the reporter didn’t share which game Andrew was playing in while Mychal was ready to have that baby, his teammate accidentally did. In a press conference from April 10th, Kent Bazemore said, “Wigs playing with a heavy heart and heavy mind with the birth of his daughter last night.” Andrew and Mychal welcomed baby girl Alayah Milan last month and are also parents to daughter Amyah, who was born October 11th, 2018.
