Eleven-year-old Tanner Brasol was in the middle of a surf competition in Brevard County, Florida, when a shark in the water took interest. When the event organizers realized what was happening, they got the surfers out of the water. The competition was paused for about 45 minutes. Once there were no sharks in sight, the contest got back up and running. And, there was a question to answer. Would Tanner get back in the water and finish? At first, Tanner admitted that he thought about not going back into the water. But, then he decided to get out there and give it one more try, offering a bit of advice to anyone afraid of sharks: “If you stay calm around sharks they won’t attack. Just keep your feet and hands out of the water.”
