A 20-year-old woman in the UK is now in jail after she confessed to creating up to 30 fake Instagram accounts and using them to send herself threats that she said were from her ex-boyfriend. Using the fake messages as proof, Courtney Ireland-Ainsworth told police that Louis Jolly had threatened to stab her. Louis was charged with assault and given a stalking protection order, a home curfew, electronic tag, and lost his job as a result of the charges. Police got the data on the messages from Facebook and found that at least 17 of the accounts were created using two of Courtney’s email and IP addresses. Louis was cleared and the charges dropped, and she got 10 months in jail and a 10-year restraining order.
